We believe we have a responsibility towards our planet, the people and creatures who inhabit it. Our vision is a sustainable world free from pollution. 

We believe that as a society, we must make a fundamental shift in the way we value resources and move from a ‘linear economy’ (make, use, dispose) to a ‘circular’ one. In a Circular Economy, resources are kept in use for as long as possible, the maximum value is extracted from them whilst in use, and at the end of the product’s service life, materials are recovered and regenerated from it. 

We believe it is our social responsibility to give back to the world, just as it gives to us. This is what makes us a truly sustainable ogranisation.

Following our mission to make the greatest possible sustainability impact, we are working to scale our technology and make our products widely available. We aim to educate and inspire individuals and organizations to reduce plastic pollution by providing them with better alternatives through harnessing the power of nature.

History

Grale was founded by visionary brothers Allen and Max, with a bold mission to tackle the global catastrophe of plastic pollution.

The idea originated in their childhood. Whenever they ventured into nature, their parents encouraged them to spend a few minutes picking up litter before playing. This practice became a cherished habit that they carry on to this day.

As they grew older, they realized these small-scale efforts weren’t enough. The majority of the waste they encountered was plastic, endlessly accumulating. Recognizing that individual actions alone wouldn’t suffice, they resolved to address the problem at its root by developing a scalable alternative.

Their journey began over a decade ago as a side project. Then, in 2018, a groundbreaking breakthrough took their innovation beyond the lab and into real-world application, leading to the official registration of their company under the name PlasticFri.

Since then, Allen and Max have collaborated with stakeholders, partners, suppliers, and customers to drive their mission forward. Their dedication has earned them prestigious accolades, including a Gold Medal for their invention, recognition as some of Sweden’s most influential sustainability leaders, inclusion in the prestigous "Forbes 30 Under 30” list, and the esteemed "Prince Daniel Fellowship."

Today, under the new name Grale, the brothers continue to combine innovation and purpose, working tirelessly to create a more sustainable and impactful future.
